This is the easiest Heart Cookies Hack! Cookie hacks can be very valuable when time has just run out to decorate homemade cookies. All you need is a knife to turn chocolate chip cookies into heart cookies for any occasion.

I was making my homemade Chocolate Chip Heart Cookies for Valentine’s Day and oops! needed a few more cookies than anticipated. I was considering making a new batch of dough, but time was running out. I stumbled across the snack packs of chocolate chip cookies in the pantry and thought …

Sure enough the crispy store bought chocolate chip cookie can also be crafted into a heart cookie! The key here is crispy and in order to turn a store bought cookie into a heart cookie the cookies must be crisp, but not too crisp so the cookie breaks apart.

After a few trial and error attempts using the same method I use to make Heart Cookies with my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe I found success!

Directions Heart Cookies Hack

Ingredients

Crispy Chocolate Chip Cookies (choose your favorite Brand)

How To Make A Heart Cookie

  1. The key is a crispy cookie, but a cookie that does not crumble when being cut with a knife.
  2. Test a cookie by cutting the cookie gently. Does the cookie crumble?
  3. If no, you are good to proceed.
  4. If yes, microwave the cookie(s) in increments of 5 seconds to ever so slightly soften the cookie.
  5. I begin with microwaving 10 seconds on high and then start the 5 seconds increments.
  6. Test the cookie again by doing a test cut with the knife. If the cookie can be cut without the cookie crumbling you are good to begin the heart shaping.

Directions

The store bought cookies are cut the same way as I do with homemade chocolate chip cookies. Click here for the easy directions.
