This microwave fudge recipe uses condensed milk. Have you ever stood in the baking aisle staring at the milk cans trying to remember whether the recipe calls for condensed or evaporated milk?  For this easy fudge recipe sweetened condensed milk is used.

How To Make Fudge Balls

Ingredients

1 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk

1 package semi sweet chocolate chips

1 tsp. vanilla

Decorating sprinkles

Directions

  1. In a medium size microwave safe bowl (I prefer a glass bowl) add the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk.
  2. Gently mix the chips and milk.
  3. Microwave on high for 2.5 to 3.25 minutes. This is a range as the time depends upon the power of the microwave and the bowl. Begin with setting the timer at 2.5 minutes and check the mixture.
  4. Use oven mitts if removing the fudge from the microwave as the bowl will be HOT!
  5. Just as with making fudge on the stove top a boil needs to be achieved so the fudge will set.
  6. At 2.5 minutes the chocolate chips should beginning to melt.Chocolate chips melting in bowl.
  7. Now microwave the fudge in 25 second increments.
  8. In my microwave the fudge will need 3 to 3.25 minutes total.
  9. If peeking through the microwave window a good indicator as to if the fudge has cooked long enough is to see the beginning of the milk bubbling around the edges.
  10. Using oven mitts remove the bowl of fudge and stir. The remaining chips should be soft enough to melt completely when stirring.Hot fudge in a bowl.
  11. Add vanilla and stir.
  12. Let the fudge cool to a slightly warm temperature. The fudge can be cooled on the counter top or put into the refrigerator for approximately 10 minutes.
  13. If using the refrigerator to cool the fudge be watchful! leaving the fudge in the refrigerator too long and the fudge will harden. (But no worries there if you have stepped away from the refrigerator too long, the fudge can be warmed on the counter top, but this adds extra steps and time).
  14. To serve warm the fudge balls to room temperature.
