So easy, so quick, so refreshing! Fruit infused watermelon ice cubes are  a wonderfully healthy way to increase your water daily water intake by adding watermelon ice cubes to your favorite drink!

Glass with watermelon ice cubes.

If you struggle with drinking the recommended amount of water per day (and so many of us do!) adding watermelon ice cubes definitely helps the cause and requires little effort for big rewards anytime of the year. Don’t forget a visit to the local dollar store which is a great resource for ice cube trays!

How To Make Fruit Infused Watermelon Ice Cubes

INGREDIENTS

Makes 24 cubes.

1 1/2 cups watermelon

1/2 cup water

1 tablespoon honey

1 tablespoon lemon juice

** I find the honey is adequate for sweetness; however, you can add a touch of sugar or stevia if desired for additional sweetness.

This is a very flexible recipe and can be easily tweaked for your taste preference.

DIRECTIONS

  • Prepare your watermelon by cutting the watermelon into medium thick slices.
  • Remove the rind and seeds from the watermelon.
  • Seedless watermelon is highly recommended which will leave only a few white seeds to be removed.
  • Add all ingredients to a blender.

  • Puree.
  • Pour into ice cube trays. (even cuter are watermelon ice cube trays!) These make very cute watermelon shaped ice cubes which add a bit of fun and whimsy to the drinks.

  • Freeze.

If you are using a whole watermelon, I love this helpful watermelon slicing gadget to prep a whole watermelon. A few hours are needed to freeze the watermelon puree.

Add the watermelon cubes to a glass of water or brighten up a glass of lemonade! Add a sprig of basil or mint to the glass or water for a festive and healthy drink.

How Long Do Fruit Infused Watermelon Ice Cubes Last?

I have found the amount of time  the ice cubes last in the drink is proportionate to the temperature of the drink. The colder the drink the longer the ice cubes will remain frozen. The watermelon ice cubes do not stay frozen as long as plain water ice cubes.

Looking for more ways to use watermelon? How about watermelon cake!

Use a quarter of a watermelon to make your watermelon cake, add frosting or coconut frosting (paleo) and your guests will love this unique twist for a watermelon dessert.

I love any dessert which is no bake and when the temps are hot and humid this is the perfect way complement for the barbecue or summer party.

Fruit Infused Water Combinations

Watermelon should not be overlooked as a nutritious fruit!
