What happened to Mr. Salty Pretzels! Planters Cheez Balls are still missing in action! And I have yet to find a copycat recipe for the beloved and so greatly missed Nabisco Ideal Bars! Do we all have a few favorite snack foods that have been discontinued?
As I recently perused the cookie aisle I once again search for the orange Ideal package I remember so well. Maybe there was a bring back the Ideal cookie movement I so dearly loved and still miss to this day.
Have my beloved Nabisco Ideal cookie bars been resurrected? Alas, no.
It is a nostalgic trip remembering the foods we loved but are now a cherished memory. No, these are not the healthiest or healthy snacks. But I still miss these discontinued snacks and my top three of snacks never to again grace the grocery shelves: Mr. Salty pretzels, Planters Cheez Balls and Nabisco Ideal Bars.
My List Of Discontinued Snacks I Miss!
- Ideal cookie bars by Nabisco
- Mr. Salty pretzels (Handi snacks do not count)
- Tan M & Mโs
- Fried pies at McDโs
- Planters Cheez balls
- Jumbo block peanut candy
- Carnation Breakfast Bars
The public outcry over the demise of the Planters Cheez Balls could not budge Planters to bring back our cherished cheese ball.
Pop open the can of orange stick to your fingers bursting with cheese flavor puffed balls. Cheese ball lovers still mourn their demise in 2006.
Ideal Peanut Butter and Chocolate Bars
These were slim cookies in the shape of a bar with just the right mix of peanut butter and chocolate. The peanut butter was sandwiched between flaky layers and covered in chocolate.
As I recall these bars were quite a treat in our household and disappeared as soon as they entered the kitchen. Miss you!
The copycat recipe for Ideal Bars is missing in action too. I have not found one copycat recipe to even try and replicate those yummy chocolate bars.
Mr. Salty Pretzels
Mr. Salty was my favorite brand of pretzels. Salty? yes, but not too salty. Crunchy with just the right amount of crunch and crisp. I’m not a fan of some of today’s brands of pretzels which you need a sledgehammer to consume.
If you are still hankering for a Mr. Salty pretzel Kraft does offer Mr. Salty Handi Snacks. Even these I have a difficult time finding these on the grocery shelves but they are available on Amazon.
What foods are on your list?
Don’t Forget The Puffcorn Recipe
Have you heard of Puffcorn? The hullless popcorn which can be made into a yummy and addictive snack? This is a very easy recipe that always leaves guest wanting for more.
No puffcorn will never be discontinued in our house! Give Puffcorn a try and your guests will love you! It may even dim the memory of the salty snacks we love and can find no more!
We still have fried pies at our local McDonald. Apple and some kind of cream pie. They change with the holidays but apple remains strong.
Apple does seem to be a perennial favorite!
I miss the fried pies at McDonalds and the danish they had back in the 80’s. The new pies are not the same.
I agree!
I had to give up all my favorite snacks, but I try to cheat with M&M`s at times..
Giving up snacks is tough… but I know your health appreciates it.
OMG, thinking WAY back when I was young, we had Mallo Cups with cards that had points to earn my Mallo Cups. I loved the marshmallow cups! The started having them in some store, but half the size and no more cards with points!
Oh yes the Mallow!
I can’t really think of a snack I loved that I can’t find anymore. Though lots of 90s kids will bemoan the missing Dunkaroos. What I miss most is a drink. Crystal Pepsi!
Oh my – I remember crystal pepsi now! the memories…
