Puffcorn is the ultimate sweet and salty snack all guests adore! This No Bake Puffcorn recipe has become a staple of holiday parties because Puffcorn can be dressed up for the holiday for a festive party snack.
As we roll into the holiday season and look for an easy, yummy and addictive treat, holiday puffcorn is a treat not to be missed and your guests will thank you and they circle the bowl for their third helping. This remains my silent mantra when serving candy coated puffcorn… “step away from the puffcorn and give me a chance to refill the bowl!”
How To Make Sweet And Salty Puffcorn
1 bag of Puffcorn, Chesters brand is my favorite
1/2 bar of almond bark, or 1/2 bag of white chocolate chips
2 cookie sheets
Parchment paper
Sprinkles, jimmies, edible decorations
Directions
- Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper. Wax paper will also work.
- Spread the puffcorn in a single layer on two cookie sheets.
- Melt the bark or white chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. I begin by melting the chocolate/bark in 30 second increments.
- With a wooden spoon drizzle the chocolate onto the puffcorn. The amount of drizzle is up to you. It is okay to be generous, the majority of the puffcorn should have a ‘touch’ of chocolate drizzle.
- If desired, decorate the puffcorn with sprinkles, jimmies or any edible decoration.
- Set the puffcorn on the counter for approximately 15 minutes. For a quick set pop the cookie sheets into the refrigerator.
- Break apart the puffcorn into finger food size morsels.
- Store in an airtight container.
Where To Find Puffcorn
Puffcorn also known as hullless popcorn is in the snack aisle of grocery stores and convenience stores. The major brands of puffcorn include Chesters (by Frito Lay), Bettermade, Herr, Meijer. The puffcorn can be plain or butter flavored.
I have also purchased natural puffcorn which is a healthier version of puffcorn with less salt. However this recipe is a snack, treat and sweet and salty so as we know… everything in moderation!
Holiday Puffcorn Decorating Ideas
Sprinkles make the Puffcorn! Actually the puffcorn is absolutely delicious without any decorations, but for parties and holidays I decorate the Puffcorn for the holiday.
My favorite sprinkles for Puffcorn:
- Patriotic sprinkles
- Halloween sprinkles
- Christmas sprinkles
- Happy sprinkles
- Winter Party sprinkles
- Valentine’s Day sprinkles (love the jumbo hearts)
- St. Patrick’s Day sprinkles
How To Serve Puffcorn
Puffcorn can be served in a bowl as a finger food. But puffcorn is not limited! It can be packaged for single serving or as a party favor in cellophane party bags.
For Valentine’s Day this year I served Valentine’s Day Puffcorn in cupcake liners.
Christmas is one of my favorite holidays for serving puffcorn. Who has time to add one more thing to bake! Christmas Puffcorn is the perfect treat for holiday parties that can be made (not baked!) in 30 minutes.
For the Spring and Easter parties, I served puffcorn in single size pedestal glasses (from the dollar store!).
St. Patrick’s Day I also used single serve mini bowls (from the dollar store!)
As you can see Puffcorn is extremely flexible. Dress it up or serve it without decorations!
