Fantasy Fudge lovers unite! Melt in your mouth Fantasy Fudge is not just for Christmas! Easy to make fudge hearts from the original Fantasy Fudge recipe are absolutely yummy! This Valentine’s Day dessert recipe features the cannot be beat marshmallow creme which makes an incredibly creamy fudge.

A pan of fudge can be turned into a generous amount of fudge hearts.
How To Make Valentine’s Day Fantasy Fudge Hearts
INGREDIENTS
The original Fantasy Fudge recipe is my go to recipe for fudge. The old school original version of Fantasy Fudge with marshmallow creme. Careful as there is an “imposter” recipe on the marshmallow creme jar!
What is fun about the DIY Fantasy Fudge Hearts (hey, what is not fun about fudge!) is the timing. It was a tradition in my family to make fudge at Christmas.
A tradition I continue every year. But why restrict Fudge to the Christmas baking season!
A little mid winter, albeit a sugary pick up, is a nice change in the snowy midwest come February.
MATERIALS
Heart shaped metal cookie cutters ***Metal only
Cooking spray
DIRECTIONS
Make the original Fantasy Fudge.
One of the keys for fool proof Fantasy Fudge is to boil the mixture for five minutes exactly! A rocking and rolling boil which means you means you must stir the fudge for the entire five minutes (but your labor will be justly rewarded!)
Let the fudge cool and set up. I put the cooled fudge in the refrigerator to help harden the fudge.
Set the metal cookie cutter on a piece of paper towel, paper plate or parchment paper.
Spray a metal cookie cutter with cooking spray.
Most important is to spray/grease the inside of the cookie cutter! Grease the cookie cutter before every cut, yes every cut! No shortcuts and take it from a cook who has many a fudge heart. The one time you skip this step and find a fudge heart glued to the cookie cutter which equals a huge mess to clean.
Cut the Fudge Heart from your fudge.
Rinse and repeat for the desired number of fudge hearts.
***IMPORTANT TIPS***
It is crucial the cookie cutter is properly greased each time you cut a fudge heart or the fudge will stick to the cookie cutter. This is not pretty!
Use the same method when using cookie cutters for dough. Sometimes you can flour a cookie cutter and use it twice and the dough will not stick to the cookie cutter, but more often than not, the cookie cutter needs to be floured or in this greased before each cut.
I then set the fudge heart in the refrigerator to keep the heart firm and to decorate if desired.
DECORATE THE FUDGE HEART – optional!
The DIY Fudge Hearts can be decorated.
I have decorated the hearts with my favorite icing (an alternative to Royal Icing with no egg whites) or even melted chocolate.
Sugar alert though! This is one sweet treat.
Valentine Fantasy Fudge Cups
In a time crunch? As all fudge makers know, fudge can be difficult to cut! Instead of making fudge in a pan use mini cupcake liners for single serve fudge.
The last time I made Fantasy Fudge I turned the entire batch into Valentine and winter themed fudge cups and they were a hit! Learn how in this Fudge Cup tutorial.
Leftover Crushed Candy Cane Topping
Are those leftover candy canes still lurking around the house? A festive topping for Valentine’s Day fudge or fudge hearts is too sprinkle crushed candy canes on top!
If decorating the fudge after the fudge has set then simply add a smidge of frosting or melted chocolate to ‘glue’ the crushed cane canes on top.
The peppermint adds a fun taste combo to the chocolate fudge.
Have a great Valentine’s Day and enjoy!
