Review: Bell & Evans Chicken Breast Tenders & Nuggets

Don’t you absolutely love the convenience of frozen food?

Until you taste the frozen food  and wonder exactly what qualifies as a frozen entrée that is edible? Yes, the food is consistently frozen; however, the food is not consistently edible.

We are a household that consumes alot of chicken. The majority of the chicken is purchased fresh and is frequently Amish chicken. But like any other household our schedules and time constraints do not always allow the time needed to prepare fresh chicken entrees.

The quest began to find an alternative and after test and trials of many brands, Bell & Evans Chicken Breast Tenders and Nuggets were the favorite.

 Taste Of Bell & Evans Chicken Breast Tenders

From the first bite we were delighted to discover that both the Bell & Evans Chicken Breast Tenders and the Nuggets tasted like chicken. This may not seem like a trail blazing discovery as shouldn’t frozen chicken taste like chicken as advertised? Not so true with other brands tested.

The chicken breast tenders were moist and tender and the breading was nicely crispy. There is not alot of flavor to the breading which works quite well for using the chicken with a dipping sauce, sliced on a salad or for a chicken sandwich.

Serving Size And Nutrition

According to Bell Evans the serving size for the tenders and nuggets is 4 ounces and contains 210 calories and 220 calories respectively. Depending upon the appetite  and side dishes, two chicken tenders can easily be part of a meal for one adult or four nuggets.

The chicken breast tenders are all natural, no preservatives, no chemical additives or fillers. The chicken tender is 100% breast meat from chickens raised without antibiotics.

Ease Of Cooking

The chicken breast tenders and nuggets are packaged as raw and breaded. The chicken must be baked or can be pan fried. Both products also cook nicely in an air fryer.

Microwaving the chicken is not recommended by Bell Evans. While the baking does take more time than a precooked and warmed chicken tender, it only takes 30 minutes. By the time the accompanying dishes are prepared the 30 minutes will have elapsed and dinner is served.

The price we paid was $7.49 for the box which contained three four ounce servings.

Gluten Free Bell & Evans Chicken Breast Tenders

For consumers who desire or by necessity can only eat gluten free products, Bell Evans offers gluten free chicken tenders and chicken nuggets. Be careful when purchasing to ensure the gluten free is chosen as the products are usually displayed together in the frozen food aisle. The gluten free products have a red box along with the gluten free labels.

The chicken nuggets may appeal to children and are easier to use with dipping sauces due to their size. The chicken tenders and nuggets are always requested in my house whether it be by an adult or child.
