Loving these quick and easy Halloween Spider Cupcakes! Fun Halloween snack and perfect Halloween cupcake recipe for kids to bring to the school party. This spider cupcake idea is spooky, creepy and an easy Halloween dessert for kids to make, bake and enjoy!

How To Make Halloween Spider Cupcakes

Ingredients

Box of favorite cake or cupcake mix

Favorite cupcake frosting

Edible Candy Eyes

Malted milk balls

Chocolate morsels, semi sweet, milk chocolate or dark chocolate

Disposable cake decorating bag

Directions

  1. Bake your favorite cupcakes. The cupcakes can be regular size or mini cupcakes.
  2. Let cool.
  3. While the cupcakes are cooling began preparing the malted milk balls and candy eyes.
  4. Melt the chocolate morsels in the microwave. Put 1/2 cup morsels in a microwave safe bowl and melt on high. After the chips have begun to melt (I begin with 45 seconds) then check the morsels to see if they are melted enough to put into a decorating bag. If more time is necessary heat the morsels on high in 15 second intervals.
  5. After the morsels are melted then spoon the morsels into a disposable decorating bag.
  6. Using the melted chocolate as the glue, put a dot or two dots if using two eyes, on the malted milk balls.
  7. Press the candy eyes into the glue dots and press gently to adhere.
  8. Halloween candy eyeballs are also available! Add an even spookier look to your cupcakes with these fun eyeballs.Spider made of malted milk balls on top of cupcake.
  9. Frost the cupcakes.
  10. Position the malted milk balls on top of the cupcakes. The design is up to you. A spider is created by placing two milk balls one behind each other.
  11. The front milk ball has the eyes attached.
  12. Now add the spider legs by taking drizzling the legs from the milk balls to the edge of the cupcake with the chocolate in the decorating bag.
  13. Let the spider cupcakes set.
  14. Let the spiders “dry” on the counter top or for a quick set put the cupcakes into the refrigerator for a few minutes.

Decorating The Halloween Spider Cupcakes

The cupcakes can be messy! This is a Halloween recipe kids of all ages can make, bake and bring to school. The messiness just adds to the spookiness of the spiders.

If a decorating bag is not handy this is a perfect time to use the Plastic Bag Hack by spooning the melted chocolate into a quart size plastic bag and snipping off the end of the bag to create a DIY decorating bag.

The candy eyeballs are just made for Halloween recipes! I could not resist adding the eyeballs to make old school, old fashioned Halloween Popcorn Lollipops which were worked out great for Octoberfest.

I used candy eyeballs to another Halloween snack favorite to turn Halloween Puffcorn into a scary and spooky Halloween snack!
