It is the season of green and rice krispies treats are calling to be made into St. Patrick’s Day Rice Krispies Treats. A little wizardry with a sharp knife will turn your rice krispies bars into St. Patrick’s Day Rice Krispies  Shamrocks or Lollipops in minutes!

Three lollipops in the shape of shamrocks made of rice krispies.

The littles can decorate the St. Patrick’s Day rice krispies shamrocks or assemble the lollipops.

Only adults should shape the lollipops with the knife of course due to safety, but this is also a great little St. Patrick’s Day craft for kids which is also yummy !

How to Make St. Patrick’s Day Rice Krispies Treats

Ingredients

Store bought Rice Krispies Treats or homemade Rice Krispies bars

Lollipop or Craft sticks

Icing or Green Candy Melts are optional

Quick Tip! No Bake St. Patrick’s Day Lollipops

Shamrock Pops can of course be made by making your own rice krispies treats, but this can be a no bake treat by using the store bought Rice Krispies bars.

Directions

Step by step cutting instructions for Shamrock Pops.

  1. A sharp knife is necessary.
  2. Cut your rice krispies treats into small squares.  If using the store bought rice krispies bars simply cut the rectangle into a square and bonus this leaves a few yummy tidbits ready for snacks!
  3. Think 4’s!
  4. Using the rice krispies square, cut off the four corners.
  5. Using the rice krispies square with the four corners cut off – cut a small V in the middle of each side (4 sides, 4 V’s)
  6. Shamrocks are really just hearts! Your choice, 4 V’s = four leaf pop or 3 V’s = 3 leaf pop.
  7. Using your fingers (with disposable gloves), press the side of each heart gently to create each rounded heart. Rice Krispies are very flexible!
  8. Insert the lollipop or craft stick in the middle of the Shamrock Pop.

Voila! You are done.

Decorating The Lollipop

This is optional, but the Pops can be easily decorated with decorator icing (this is my non egg white favorite recipe) or with melted chocolate, bark or candy melts.

If dipping the lollipops in chocolate you do need to work fairly quickly as the chocolate sets fast.

I also decorate with icing just as you would with decorating sugar cookies; simply allow enough time for the icing to set. A quick set can be obtained by putting the Rice Krispies Shamrocks Lollipops into the refrigerator.
