Alternative Gift Fairs Attracts Holiday Shoppers

Affiliate links may be used in this post. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Read the full disclosure policy here

Alternative Gift Fairs and Alternative Art Fairs have been popping up in my metro area and what a great idea! Non-profits and their volunteers are the stalwarts of grass roots organizing and whether is be by volunteering or monetary support, Alternative Gift Fairs help support your chosen organization.

What Are Alternative Gift Fairs?

Alternative gift fairs in my area are usually sponsored by churches of all denominations and lend an avenue for local non-profit organizations and fair trade organizations to raise funds. The alternative gift fairs support fair trade and non-profits while providing holiday shoppers the opportunity to support their chosen organization by purchasing gifts (usually volunteer donated) with the proceeds to benefit the non-profit.

The gift fairs also provide a very nice opportunity for the non-profits to outreach into the community in a holiday setting.

What Is Fair Trade?

Fair trade goods are goods produced by farmers and craftspeople throughout the world in developing countries who are justly compensated for their goods and products. The Fair Trade Federation has regulations and principles which mirror the principles of the World Fair Trade Organization. Look for goods which are certified fair trade, not just advertised as fair trade.

Alternative Gift Fairs offer non-profits and holiday shoppers great opportunities.

Project Linus Oakland at Alternative Gifts Fair

A p.r. plug for an organization I volunteer for: Project Linus and the Project Linus Oakland chapter.

Stop by the Project Linus Oakland table to see what fun stocking stuffers we have to offer,  all proceeds directly benefit the volunteer chapter. Find out about knit, crochet and quilt volunteer blanketeer opportunities which provide Project Linus blankets throughout the metro area.

The Alternative Gifts Fair is a great way to support local non-profits with the space graciously donated by our host,  the First Baptist Church of Birmingham.
