Gluten-Free Krispy Cereal (brand of your choice)
Directions
- Peel the banana
- Spread apple butter on the outside of banana
- Spread the cereal on a paper plate
- Roll banana in the cereal mixture
- Cut the finished sushi into bite size slices
Kitchen Tip: If you are using a newly purchased jar of gluten-free apple butter, chilling the apple butter makes spreading the apple butter on the banana much easier!
I experimented with gluten-free cheerios which also worked nicely. The cheerios can be used either whole or slightly crushed. For any family members that prefer a sweeter version of healthy sushi is Peanut Butter Banana Krispy Sushi.
Gluten-Free Rice Krispies
As gluten-free fans of Rice Krispies discovered much to our dismay! Gluten-free Rice Krispies by Kellogg’s have been discontinued by the manufacturer.
However there are plenty of alternatives to the Kellogg’s brand! And to make Apple Banana Sushi snacks you can choose the crispy cereal of you choice or even gluten-free cheerios work well with the little extra labor of crushing the cheerios.
Gluten-Free Rice Krispies Alternatives
Thankfully there are quite a few brands of rice krispie and cereal krisps to take the place of Kellogg’s Gluten-Free Rice Krispies. A few of the more popular:
Gluten-Free Apple Butter
Is apple butter inherently gluten-free? Store bought apple butter can be depending upon how the apple butter is made. Musselman’s , Eden Foods Organic , Shiloh Farms and Walden Farms have gluten-free apple butter available on amazon.
Apple butter is easy to make at home! A few ingredients, a crockpot of apples and a little time will make a wonderful batch of gluten-free apple butter. The Unconventional Baker has an easy apple butter crockpot recipe to try.
